York St John's first and only Powerlifting Club

Description

What is Powerlifting? Powerlifting is an individual sport in which competitors attempt to lift as much weight as possible for one repetition in the squat, bench press and deadlift. Competitors are given three attempts at each of the disciplines and the best lift out of the three is taken and added together to give a lifters overall score by which they are then ranked. The highest total wins each weight class. Our training session are not solely geared around competing, we are open to all abilities from expert lifters to those who have never lifted before. We are also not student specific so members of staff and members of the general public get involved. Everyone is welcome!! We run on a Monday evening from 7pm-8pm and on a Wednesday evening from 6pm-7pm at our facility on Haxby Road, please follow this link for directions: http://www.yorksj.ac.uk/ysjactive/ysjactive/directions.aspx. Our coaches are British Weightlifting Trained and have a vast experience in Powerlifting as well as coaching.
