Making Photography An Experience.

Description

Hello world (I couldn't think of a less cheesy way to start), for those who are not familiar with me my name is Sheldon Steele and I'm a photograholic. I got into photography after seeing that my wife, Candace Steele, had a happy camera trigger finger and ever since having our child, Azaryah, I wanted to help her get some shots of our little girl, so I went out and bought a camera, learned how to operate it, and learned how to edit the photos. I've been doing photography for a little under a year and have developed a strong passion for it ever since. From the time I started up until now, I've been doing quite a bit for an amateur and decided to share what I've been through and about to go through with everyone that visits this page. My classmates at the time while attending Humber College, Sam Marlow and Kevin Yw showed me some photos that they've taken at the time and the thought of capturing lifes moments in a still photo really intrigued me, so I decided to try my hand at it. I had a friend that works in video production and he referred me to a woman named Dierdre Mahale that runs and event every few weeks for up and coming music artists looking to market themselves and get their name out called La Musique Circle (FB Page here). Working with her I learned a lot about shooting photography at events and doing that is not easy, especially when working with different kinds of lighting and the pressure of not having much time to set up and shoot and trying to capture a good shot. So I had a pretty big jump from absolutely knowing nothing about photography to shooting music artists. I've lived in Hamilton for a good year or so and met a lot of interesting people. Things are quite different out here than in Brampton and Toronto, like for example, calling someone a "goof" is pretty much taboo out here and will possibly get you shot. So with the experience and knowledge acquired from events and the loads and loads of reading material that my friend Sam Marlow provided me, I've decided to try and capture life in downtown Hamilton and possibly expand outward to other parts of the city afterwards and maybe even different cities or maybe even countries. I've enlisted the help of a friend I met in Hamilton named Tafari Phinn, to help get things going. Think of it as sort of a side project. It will be interesting to see what might come of this... who knows what might happen.
