Description

I was a very small, slight teenager. I had a love for sport but a physicality that lacked that of my peers. But I had one thing in buckets, discipline. So where my body lacked, I dedicated myself to learning and perfecting form and function. If I couldn't compete on a physical level, I would have the best technique and the hardest work ethic. This paid dividends and I represented my school in over 10 sports. I took this desire to be the best at whatever I put my mind to and focussed it on becoming a soldier. The Royal Marines were the perfect fit. They didn't care if you were short and skinny, if you gave it everything you had, every time. So at 17 I joined, as the youngest in my troop, and 8 months later I became a Royal Marines Commando. During this training, I learned how the mind tells the body to quit a long time before the body needs to stop. I learned the body lasts longer and performs better when the form and technique are constantly analysed and improved upon. Having now left the Royal Marines to pursue a different career, I've taken the lessons and mindset developed and have applied them to the passion that started all those years ago, the pursuit of physical and technical excellence.
