Suttree's High Gravity Tavern is a beer-centric bar in downtown historic downtown Knoxville specializing in a excellent selection of regular and high gravity craft brews. "High gravity" refers to the increase in the level of alcohol which often is accompanied by an increase of rich flavor associated with the ingredients added to the beer. Craft beer--simply beer carefully produced in limited quantities by smaller breweries--has become a growing trend across the country. This is precisely what Suttree's is all about.  The long and honorable friendship between books and beer was toasted anew when Suttree's was named after Cormac McCarthy’s sad and funny lowlife novel, Suttree. Book and bar are both located in the city of McCarthy’s boyhood, Knoxville, Tennessee. Ambiance-wise, Suttree's High Gravity Tavern is warm, inviting, delicious. The tavern is a deep, stylish space with saloon signage, polished wooden floors, an enormous rustic bar cobbled from old floors and an appealing list of craft beer and wine. Patrons can sit at the bar as the lighted chalkboard behind the bar boasts a bevy of delicious ever-changing brews, catch sun on the rooftop patio, or enjoy a brew on another level at the Tavern. With no loud music, no video games, no large-screen TV, Suttree's is made for conversation. 

A Market Square restaurant that was called by the New York Times as “the nexus for all things hip and happening in town” is well-known for our vegan and vegetarian fare.  Don't worry - we have the carnivores covered, too. You'll find Ashley Farms all natural, antibiotic free chicken, Benton's Bacon, Bobak's andouille and our house made lamb sausage. Our lunch meats are nitrite/nitrate free. You can find a second location of The Tomato Head in The Gallery Shopping Center, located at 7240 Kingston Pike in West Hills. Our restaurant was voted by Metro Pulse readers as the Best Pizza for the past ten years and Best Restaurant for the past 15 years in their annual Best Of Knoxville poll.
