Santacon 2013: Saturday December 14  Start time: Last year we started at 3pm. Check back for more info. End time: Make your own decisions. Description The second year of Downtown Vancouver's own Santacon with your own local shenanigans. Who we are: A local, grass-roots organization. If you are a Vancouver resident (or anyone else that just wants to join...Santa is not picky) that wants to get out and support local Downtown Vancouver businesses. What we aren't: Exclusive, or judgmental. Vancouver is it's own city, so we do things our own way here and we're proud of it. All you have to do is be prepared to have fun.  What we do: Donate socks for local charity (YWCA) then map out your own route to Santa friendly locations in Downtown Vancouver. Go as a large group, or small. Whatever works for you. Eat, drink, and participate in holiday shenanigans but most importantly, spend your money where it benefits the local community. What to wear: Dress mild to wild but you MUST dress in holiday fashion. Sport your own Santa suit, reindeer garb, elf costume, or just wear an outrageous holiday sweater. In order to receive special offers and discounts at bars and restaurants, you need to dress in holiday attire that sets you apart from non-participants. How it works: We'll share the list of local participating merchants and specials they are going to offer. We'll share a map here, but we'll also share the map at the first stop so you can easily see who is Santa-friendly and who has opted out. At the first stop, you'll leave your charitable donation of cozy socks for charity, and then spirit on your way to fun and frivolity.
