Established in 1975 as the Farm and Garden Market Cooperative Association, The Lexington Farmers' Market is a cooperative run by a Board of Directors elected by the membership. We are fiscally independent and are not part of, nor financially supported by the Lexington Fayette Urban County Government or any other entity. The Lexington Farmers' Market, as we are known to our customers, has developed into a five day per week market during the season. Our traditional outdoor season is mid-April until late November, but NOW we operate YEAR ROUND at the 5/3 Bank Pavilion in Cheapside Park. We currently have more than 75 paid members. Many of these farmers only come to the market during the season for their specialties, such as sweet corn or tomatoes, but others come year round with value added or expanded product lines.

For seven generations the Potter family has been a family of farmers. From the oldest to the youngest we all have a hand in tending to the animals. We are very passionate about the beef industry and excited about local consumers enjoying our beef. We believe that farmers are true stewards of the land and must be the first line of environmental defense. We believe people deserve to know where their food comes from, how it is grown and how it is harvested. We believe in the production and consumption of local foods. We believe farmers can be true artisans, producing affordable extraordinary food grown locally for families, restaurants, universities, school and markets.
