Over 2600 different cookie jars over 1000 sets of salt and pepper shakers. Salt & Pepper Shakers, Kick-Knacks, Homemade Waffle Cones and the Most Cookie Jars you'll ever see in your life! How did Granny get so many cookie jars? She is up to over 2600 different jars on display in the shop. That doesn't count all the ones that are upstairs in storage. You name it they have a cookie jar for it!  along with salt and pepper shakers. Ask anyone where to go for ice cream in Metamora and they will tell you "Grannies". They carry so many yummy flavor and soft serve too. Connie makes each waffle cone by hand and you can tell by the taste. She spend hours making them. They are much more difficult to make than you would think. Each one has a hersheys kiss in the bottom. Step out back to the covered patio and sit a spell while you enjoy your ice cream. There are two large rooms full of cookie jars and salt and pepper shakers. You'll find some of the most rare, collectable cookie jars. The higher they are on the shelf the more rare they are.

The Smelly Gourmet at the Historic Banes House in Metamora, Indiana. Steve, aka Smelly and Brenda Collier make an experience for their guests gibr days a week in one of Metamora's most unique shops! Just meeting Smelly himself is an experience. The historic canal town of Metamora, Indiana provides a unique backdrop for their European Coffee Bar and Gift Shop, located in their home, known as the Banes house, an 1845 Federal style brick house in the center of the Metamora Business District.  Products include the "best cappuccino this side of the Atlantic", Brenda's super silky bath and body products and delightfully aromatic home fragrance products, Steve's hundreds of bright, colorful witty designs in his "Bits of Wisdom" refrigerator magnets that he makes in the shop, old dead computer motherboards recycled into clocks, and of course, the best gourmet popping corn in thirteen varieties, packaged in recycled liquor, wine and beer bottles! Beautiful had painted furniture by Joan, Smelly's mom. Guests enjoy not only the village's water-powered grist mill, belgian draft horse drawn canal boat ride, rides on vintage rail equipment of the Whitewater Valley Railroad, three ice cream shops and four fudge shops, but the warm, friendly atmosphere inside the Smelly Gourmet with a little background music, burning rocks and other oil lamps, and the best coffee and cappuccino to found for miles around. If you are looking for a gift that is unique and unusual this is the place. 80% of our products are our own original ideas made by us. You can also stay overnight in our Banes Suite. A 350 sq ft luxury fully equiped suite.

On any given day, you may watch Donna cook the fudge the old fashioned way in a copper kettle and hand paddle it on a marble slab for the best treat your taste buds can experience. Mr. Fudge’s Confectionary specializes in many different flavors of fudge, peanut brittle, hand dipped chocolates and a variety of roasted nuts. Sit down at the old fashioned soda fountain and enjoy a sundae, malt or other ice cream treat. Perhaps you prefer a hand dipped ice cream served in a homemade waffle cone to carry with you as you explore the village of Metamora. Opened most days Wednesday through Sunday from 10 am to 5 pm but Look for the open flag and come take a break with us.
