This page is set up to promote the IDVC Conference which explores the challenges of community based and legal responses to domestic violence and abuse
The Interdisciplinary Domestic Violence Conference is a joint enterprise between the Faculties of Business and Law, and Health and Life Sciences at De Montfort University Leicester. A wide variety of contributors from the voluntary sector, statutory services and the legal profession will be inviting thoughts and discussion as to how the community sector and legal professions might work together more effectively to maximise the protection and support of domestic abuse victims. With a strong focus on the voices of survivors/victims. It will provide a forum for community professionals, legal practitioners, students and academics to develop a cooperative network to improve future learning and practice.

Women in Law have been a high profile topic this week. Radio 4 Women's Hour interviewed the new Director of Public Prosecutions Alison Saunders on Tuesday 26th November. Bridging the gap between legal provisions and community services for victims of abuse is clearly recognised as a key focus for future practice, notwithstanding efforts made to date. Our keynote speakers, Rosa Logar, Prof Mandy Burton and Siobhan Blake will offer informed, yet very different perspectives of this topic. IDVC 16th Dec 2013
