Kearney Hill is a premier public golf course, located in northwest Fayette County. It is a Scottish links-style course, characterized by open, rolling terrain, deep sand and grass bunkers and a few trees. The wind is a very important factor in playing the course.Kearney Hill Golf Links has had the privilege to host such events as the Senior PGA Tour, Celebrity Players Tour, PGA Junior Series, the 1998 Men’s United States Amateur Public Links Championship as well as many local and state championships. The course was designed by famous golf course architects Pete and P.B. Dye, who have designed numerous unusual courses around the country, including the PGA West Stadium Course in Palm Springs, CA. the TPA at Sawgrass in Palm Beach, FL., and Crooked Stick Golf Club in Carmal, IN. They now have added a Lexington landmark to their list of creative masterpieces. The 211-acre course, located on Kearney Road off Georgetown Road (US 25) includes: A 23,000 square foot multilevel clubhouse with food service and meeting rooms 10-acre practice area 3 man-made lakes with 10 acres of surface area 71 sand bunkers Natural amphitheater areas around the greens 3.5 acres for corporate sponsor tents/displays, including 2-acres on terrace overlooking the 18th green 14 out of the 18 holes can be viewed from the observation decks on the second level of the clubhouse Playing surface: tees and fairways are Penncross bentgrass; greens are Pennlinks bentgrass; greens average 8,500 - 9,000 square feet with considerable undulation Cart paths - continuous throughout the course Kearney Hill Links has been rated in the top 10 best golf courses in Kentucky by Golf Digest magazine. Kearney Hill is open year-round except for Christmas Day. The course is open for play 8:00 am until dusk. Tee times are reserved seven days in advance.
