Each season the horse-drawn carriages of wealthy southerners, mostly from the coastal lowlands, journeyed the 4180' elevation through the Blue Ridge to Highlands to escape the heat of summer. The Historic Highlands Inn, open between the months of April through November, is the perfect place for a vacation, weekend getaway or group function.
