Mariner High School is located south of Everett, Washington in the Mukilteo School District. It was built in Everett, Washington in 1970 as the only high school serving the Mukilteo School District, until 1993 when Kamiak High School opened. Mariner’s mascot is officially the Marauder, although an orca named Splash is usually substituted. It serves grades 9th-12th.ProgramsMariner Band The high school has a concert band which is under the direction of Chris Angelos. When the school was originally established, there was also a marching band which is the pinnacle of the Mariner band since 2008.Mariner Choir Mariner's choir is under the direction of Patty Schmidt. They have a beginning Choir (Bel Canto), Chamber Choir, Jazz Choir/Show Choir, Treble Choir, and Men's Choir.Mariner Orchestra The orchestra is directed by Chris Angelos.AthleticsMariner competes in the WESCO 4A Conference. Their rivals include Kamiak High School (Mukilteo School District) as well as Jackson High School and Cascade High School (Everett School District).The Marauders football team led the team to the WIAA State Tournament in 2006, 2007 and 2008. The Marauders boys basketball team also made three recurring trips to state in the 2006-07, 2007–08, and the 2008-09 seasons.In 2013 Mariner football once again took to state playoffs upon their victory of Kamaik, leading 50 to 22. The Marauder soccer team competed in the WIAA State Tournament in 2011. 1998-99 Mariner football team was state runner up losing to Capitol. It is bounded on the south by 25th St., by 24th St. to the north, by Hoyt Ave. to the west, and by Rockefeller Ave. to the east. Colby Ave. and Wetmore Ave. run north to south through the campus.LayoutEverett High is unusual in that it has a partially open campus. With parent permission, 11th and 12th grade students may leave campus during their lunch breaks. It is one of few high schools in the state that retains an open boundary. This is done out of necessity; it would be very difficult for staff to keep students on campus, with two streets running through the campus, student parking on neighboring streets, and dining attractions only yards away.The school has seven buildings. On the western side of Colby are the main building, or the "A Building" to the South, the "Little Theater" to the Northwest, and the Science Building to the Northeast. Between the Colby Ave. and Wetmore Ave. are the "E Building," the "B Building," which is also called the Everett Civic Auditorium, and the "C Building," also known as the Commercial Building. The auditorium houses JROTC classes, band, choir, art, a cafeteria, and a large auditorium.
