Russia's state-run atomic power corporation ROSATOM built the Kudankulam nuclear power plant (KKNPP), which is now being operated by the Nuclear Power Corporation of India (NPCIL). The Unit 1 reached full capacity in July 2014, and is currently India’s most powerful reactor with a maximum operating capacity of 1,000 megawatt. The commercial operation of Unit 2 of the KKNPP started in March, 2017. In Bangladesh Rooppur nuclear power plant (RNPP) is under construction. It is implemented under an intergovernmental agreement signed between Russia and Bangladesh in November, 2011. ROSATOM's mission is to maintain national interests in defence, nuclear safety and nuclear power by achieving global leadership in advanced technologies, competencies and innovations.
