Looking for a place to play? Both facilities are also great event spaces! Saskatoon Kinsmen/Henk Ruys Soccer Centre (SKHR) SaskTel Sports Centre (STSC) The Saskatoon Soccer Centre Inc. (SSCI) was first registered as a nonprofit corporation in 1993 when representatives of the Saskatoon Adult Soccer Association and Saskatoon Youth Soccer Inc. established a committee to raise funds to construct a building primarily for the sport of indoor soccer. With the help of the City of Saskatoon, the Saskatoon Kinsmen, organizations and individuals the complex was opened for its first game in November, 1998. In 2003 the soccer family determined that if soccer was to continue to grow, another facility was necessary. The design and development of the second facility included two artificial grass outdoor fields and indoor artificial grass field. SYSI and SAS had previously utilized city owned facilities for all their outdoor programs. This is the first time that soccer actually owns and operates outdoor fields. This new development allows for the programming of a significant number of games on the three fields since they do not require the rest that natural grass fields should have on an ongoing basis. The partnership with the Saskatoon Public School Board and the City of Saskatoon was the first of its kind in Saskatoon and in Canada. The SaskTel Sports Centre is attached to the Centennial Collegiate and the city operates a walking track and circuit centre within the complex with a future civic facility planned. The doors opened to the public on January 2, 2006 with the artificial turf field being opened for its first indoor games. By September 2006 the hard court fields, the Pleasureway Pub and Deck, cafeteria and Terry Fox Walking Track were all opened to the public. Later additions included scoreclocks and bleachers on the outdoor fields, the City of Saskatoon Circuit Centre, and beach volleyball / soccer courts adjacent to the building. SSCI is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors, comprised of representatives from SYSI, SAS and members of the community.
