THE AMERICAN SPIRIT LIVES ON! Three more Spring Air facilities reopen to put dozens of families back to work in the face of the worst recession in modern history. Facilities in Atlanta, Columbus, and Salt Lake reopened their doors in June less than six weeks after the company was acquired by the newly formed Spring Air International in Boston. “We are excited to see the factories back operating producing quality Spring Air products once again” said Ed Bates, the entreprenuer who recently acquired the global rights to Spring Air trademarks. These three factories join another ten in the US that are now manufacturing the 83 year old Spring Air brand! New Owners of Spring Air Offering Consumers Assistance with Warranties The worldwide recession claimed another victim in May. It was the shutting down and subsequent bankruptcy of the former Consolidated Bedding Industries who owned and operated 9 Spring Air factories across the United States. Consumers with warranty questions or concerns about Spring Air products made by the former company are being assisted by Spring Air International (SAI) and its licensees. “Our intention is to continue help as much as possible both retailers and consumers affected by the shutdown, even though the new company has no legal obligation to do so” said new company President Rick Robinson. The company’s voluntary warranty position—which excludes non-warranted comfort returns or claims related to retail trial offers—applies to all of Spring Air’s brands including Back Supporter, Nature’s Rest and Chattam & Wells products. “Despite the challenges inherent in a major transition like this, I know we’re doing the best job we can as a new organization,” Robinson commented. “Most people have been understanding of the situation and appreciative of the efforts we’ve made to assist them.” One consumer recently called into the office to thank us for “going the extra mile” for the brand and the consumer” said Diane Grimard, an SAI executive who’s worked with dozens of consumers. Company history Since 1926, Spring Air has been widely recognized for its innovative mattresses and sleep sets. Francis Karr, who founded the company, was himself a visionary. His free-end offset coil design, which adjusts to each sleeper's weight, is now the most copied design in the bedding industry. Today, Spring Air distributes bedding internationally, with plants in the US, Canada, Mexico, Ireland, Australia, the Middle East, Dominican Republic, India, Indonesia, Israel, New Zealand and most recently Korea.
