The Bread Basket Bakery is one of the only scratch bakeries available in all of New York State. We are truly "not your ordinary bakeshop". The Bread Basket is a quaint little bakery located on Spring Street in Saratoga Springs, New York. The business was established in 1982 out of a home kitchen where Joan Tallman the owner began baking for friends and family. Joan opened the Bread Basket Bakery in 1990 and it soon became a Saratoga Tradition. Joan is a Connecticut native who moved to Clifton Park as a teenager. After her marriage to Hilton Tallman she moved to Saratoga Springs where they raised their two sons. 20 Years later, her two sons Matthew and Chad have moved back to Saratoga to continue on with the tradition. Chad is the head chef and Matthew is the operations manager. Together they have reinvented the bakery by adding both breakfast and lunch to their already delicious bakery menu. At the Bread Basket Bakery almost everything is baked fresh daily. They take great pride in their work and never use preservatives or mixes. At the Bread Basket they bake like your grandmother did and everything is made right on the premises. When you visit the Bread Basket Bakery you'll find fresh breads, rolls, cookies, pies, cakes and an assortment of pastries along with gourmet coffees and teas. The Bread Basket also has a variety of soups for take-out, or you can enjoy them at one of the cozy tables inside the bakery. In today's fast food hurry-up society, the Tallman family's Bread Basket offers a relaxing atmosphere and a friendly hello. Retro Cupcakery with two traveling buses including the only Double Decker Mobile Cupcake Restaurant in the wold! Now serving breakfast including gluten free and vegan options! Cupcakes, cannolis, cakes, ice cream and cookies! Gluten free and puppie cupcakes! Well, the BUS! Founders and owners, John and Lorraine Murphy flew out to LA to buy a vintage double decker bus sight unseen in September 2009. They knew they wanted to stand out and be a spectacle, not just a business and a DOUBLE DECKER BUS from LONDON would definitely do that! Little did they know that a bus from 1963 that is extremely tall and slow was not meant to be driven across county! They then towed the bus across the US with a pilot car in front because of the height of the bus. It then underwent months of interior renovations to make it a mobile food vending unit. John and Lorraine thought they were just going to be a Mobile Cupcake stand and purchase the cupcakes from a local bakery. Quickly realizing they wanted full creative control over the flavors and quality of each and every cupcake they then decided to launch their Saratoga Cupcakery! The Saratoga Cupcakery opened its doors November 18, 2009 and was instantly a hit! With lines out the door and everyone loving the retro theme and unique cupcake flavors we quickly became the Capital Districts choice for freshly baked cupcakes. The bus opened in December 2009 and also was instantly a landmark in the area. Causing people to turn their heads at this large red bus on Western Ave and drive from miles away was a daily occurance. Through the snow and cold the bus remained open. People came from near and far to try Betties Cupcakes.
