(Youth Exemplifying Salvation) Sundays: 3rd Sundays of every month, 11:30 a.m. Founded in 1880, the First Baptist Church of Oakland was originally known as Friendship Baptist Church. We later changed our name to reflect our roots in the Oakland subdivision of Jacksonville and are commonly referred to simply as “The Oak.” Throughout our 129-year history, a steady stream of dynamic pastors has led the First Baptist Church of Oakland. High among them is the late Rev. Charles B. Dailey, a Jacksonville Civil Rights leader and community patriarch. Rev. Torin T. Dailey, C.B. Dailey’s youngest son, was called to the pastorate in 2005 and has ushered in a new era of growth and community outreach. We are proud of our history, but we are also proud of what we are doing today, providing ongoing and relevant service to our community.
