The Prairie Canary

at 924 Main Street, Grinnell

Prairie Canary Restaurant & Bar serves comfort food with local flair in a historic building on Main Street in Grinnell, Iowa. Prairie Canary was opened in September 2012 by chef/owner Carly Groben. Located in the city of Grinnell, also known as “The Jewel of the Prairie” and home to Grinnell College, Prairie Canary provides a gathering place where guests can enjoy Midwestern flavors in an inviting, understated atmosphere that speaks to the colors and textures of the Iowa prairie. Prairie Canary Restaurant & Bar is all about being local. From the name of the restaurant to the dishes on which the food is served, effort was taken to showcase local talent and area producers. Enjoy your meal on hand-thrown plates and bowls. Sit at hand-made hickory tables. Savor farm-fresh produce grown just miles away. Sip on an Iowa wine or pint of beer. But don’t worry—we’ve thrown in plenty of global flavors and international labels to keep you trying something new, and coming back again and again! The dining room serves lunch Monday-Friday from 11-2. Dinner is served Tuesday-Thursday from 5-9 and Friday and Saturday from 5-10. Join us for brunch on Saturday and Sunday mornings from 10-2. And downstairs, the Canary Bar serves up drinks and a bar menu from 5-close Tuesday-Saturday. Grinnell has plenty to keep you busy. Stop by our bar to watch the football game on TV, check out a movie at the Fridley Theater across the street, or look at the Grinnell College schedule for a lecture or concert to attend.

Dari Barn
1810 6th Avenue Grinnell , IA 50112 null

Only found in Grinnell, The Dari Barn is a local favorite. The Dari Barn specializes in homemade soft serve--like McDonalds, only much, much better. Enjoy the experience fully by trying one of their many and delightfully unhealthy side items such as "fried cheese curds" or their "corn nuggets."
