Opened by Ronnie Clydesdale in January 1971 (in Stravaigin 2, Ruthven Lane, moved to Ashton Lane 1975) with the firm idea of bringing Scotland's endangered cuisine out of the home and into the restaurant: even to assert that Scotland had a cuisine and some of the finest raw materials anywhere. This idea was thought to be revolutionary or even plain daft. No one else wrote on the menu..Oban landed hake or Ramsay’s of Carluke bacon for instance. However, it’s an idea which is now commonplace for restaurants to sing about. We treat the food in a simple, wholesome and imaginative way without losing sight of that tradition. Contained within the multifaceted building is a fine dining courtyard restaurant; traditional pubs, informal mezzanine area, roof terrace and brasserie, all offering customers a unique & enjoyable hospitality experience.
