At Children’s Hospitals and Clinics of Minnesota, we get to see amazing every day. The fighting spirit of 24-week-old preemie. The resilient 5-year-old learning to walk again. And the sense of pure optimism we see in every child. We believe children are the most amazing people on earth — and that drives us to do everything we can to live up to the privilege of caring for them. We have a unique view of children because we see them under the rarest and most challenging of circumstances. We’re reminded daily of what children are truly capable of, and it has changed our perspective. They have much to teach us about optimism, resilience, strength and the capacity for wonder and joy. We celebrate them not for the adults they will be, but for the amazing people they already are. Children’s Minnesota is: • One of the largest pediatric health systems in the United States — with two hospitals, 12 primary and specialty care clinics and six rehabilitation sites • The only health system in Minnesota to provide care exclusively to children from before birth through young adulthood • An award-winning health system, regularly ranked by U.S. News & World Report as a top children’s hospital • An independent and not-for-profit system (since 1924) Our Mission We champion the health needs of children and families. We are committed to improving children’s health by providing the highest-quality, family-centered care, advanced through research and education. Our Vision It’s our goal to be every family’s essential partner in raising healthier children — not only during illnesses or injuries, but throughout childhood. As the health care industry faces a time of unprecedented change, we will continue our dedication to delivering an experience unlike any other, making access to health care easier, and working with the community in innovative ways. Learn more about The Children’s Way. https://vimeo.com/132465367 Our Values These values guide the way we engage with each other, our patients and our communities: • Kids first. We are inspired by children — we channel their optimism, resiliency, courage and curiosity into everything we do. • Listen, really listen. Each person has a story to tell. We listen with compassion, ask meaningful questions, and build relationships with individuals and communities. • Own outcomes. We are 200 percent accountable for providing extraordinary service. Tireless in our pursuit of excellence, we never stop learning or improving. • Join together. We are all caregivers. And, we are stronger when teamed with our patients, families, community and one another. Super teams trump superheroes. • Be remarkable. We are innovators, reimagining health care and going beyond what’s expected. After all, kids are counting on us. Patient- and Family-Centered Care At Children’s Minnesota, we practice a philosophy of care that respects the pivotal role of the family as the constant in a child’s life. We know families are the experts about their children, the primary caregivers, and the child’s biggest source of support. As a result, we encourage families and patients to participate as active members of the health care team. We’re reimagining health care for the most amazing people on earth. Dr. Meysam Kebriaei, Children’s Minnesota pediatric neurosurgeon, explains what parents should do if their child has a seizure.
"I experienced firsthand how essential quality surgical care is no matter where, or who, you are. Like heart defects, you can’t prevent emergency appendectomies, you can only hope that you’ll have access to the care you need when you need it." #globalsurgery #CHD Children's Hospitals and Clinics of Minnesota Narayana Health
Being with a child having a febrile seizure can be an extremely frightening experience for a parent. The more you know about this relatively common childhood occurrence, the better you’ll be able to respond if and when it occurs, and the less frightening it will seem.

Thanks to the help of generous community sponsors, MPD’s Bike Cops for Kids are hitting the streets in a brand new truck. Residents and business owners in Minneapolis have become very accustomed to seeing Officers Mike Kirchen and Dave O’Connor pedaling around town, handing out hundreds of bike helmets and water bottles annually. Last year, as in year’s past, they also provided free bikes for 53 young men and women in Minneapolis who needed a little boost, or “pick-me-up.” Following an extremely significant donation from Minneapolis Attorney Mike Ciresi and Dean and Tyler Phillips with the Phillips Family Foundation, the now famous “Bike Cops” have a brand new truck to cruise through the community with. It’s fully loaded. The cops can set up a basketball hoop on one side of the rig, and they’ve hooked up a TV on the other side. Inside, they’ve got spots to hang helmets, freezers full of ice cream sandwiches, and a couple of brackets where they can prop up a child’s bike to fix a chain or a loose seat. The MPD is proud to launch this “first-of-its-kind cruiser” that will help Minneapolis Police continue to connect with children throughout the community. Today the truck had it’s inaugural voyage at Lucy Laney Elementary School (where Officer Mike once worked as a School Resource Officer) on the city’s north side. Student got the first look at the truck, enjoyed some ice-cream sandwiches, and tried out the basketball hoop! The MPD would also like to acknowledge and thank the following organizations who have been both supportive and generous in helping our Bike Cops help our communities: Children's Hospitals and Clinics of Minnesota , Minneapolis-based American Academy of Neurology (AAN), KEMPS ice cream, Target, Kowalski's Markets, Behind Bars Bicycle Shop, and North End Hardware and Rental.

Happy Mother's Day! In honor of this special day, tell us something that your mom has done for you that makes her cool. I'll start: In 1990, when I was 8, my mom took me to get my ear pierced because I insisted it would look good. In hindsight, I'm not sure it did. — Jimmy

As Nora's days were sadly numbered, staff members at Children's Hospitals and Clinics of Minnesota asked Mary and John Hall whether they had any final wishes for their daughter. "I asked, 'If you could let us have our dogs [at the hospital], we'd really appreciate that.'" "I didn't want to go home and have them sniffing around for her and not knowing where she went. They lowered the bed so the dogs could lay with her and Gracie ran up and licked her [Nora]."
Our condolences go out to the Hall family during this difficult time.
