Now in its 18th year, The Peterborough Dragon Boat Festival is recognised as one of the most popular corporate team-building events in Greater Peterborough and the surrounding area, attracting teams from companies and organisations across the region. The 2016 Festival will again be raising funds for Sue Ryder- Thorpe Hall Hospice and entered teams are encouraged to raise sponsorship for this fantastic charity. Teams of up to 11 people are invited to take part, no previous experience is required and all equipment including the magnificent 30’ dragon boats, paddles and safety jackets is provided – all you need to worry about is getting a team together to join in the fun! Up to 52 teams will battle it out during the day aiming to become the champions, with each team taking on the 200m course at least three times followed by semi-finals and a final between the fastest teams to determine the winners. However, if your paddling prowess isn’t Olympic standard all is not lost as there are also prizes for the best-dressed crew, the highest-placed mixed crew and the crew that raises the most money for Sue Ryder - Thorpe Hall Hospice. There is plenty to do on the bank including tasty food stalls and bar, a large fun fair and inflatables, and with the endorsement of Connect FM and The Peterborough Telegraph, the Festival is always extremely well attended and a great day out for teams and spectators alike. Your safety is paramount and all of our events are supervised by experienced staff including the qualified helms that steer the boats. We carry £5m public liability insurance, adhere to all recommended codes of practice and health & safety guidelines and are approved by the sport’s governing body (The British Dragon Boat Racing Association).
