We assist young people in developing the skills needed to move out of harms way, transition into employment or back into education, reduce youth violence and participate actively in youth issues. We believe in a 50/50 attitude and approach when working with young people, where we work very hard fro them, but we expect them to work very hard for themselves too. We want all the youth we have in our programs to leave with a sense of pride and ownership of the experience they had with us. Our focus is to make sure that our youth have a life changing experience. The work we do is crucial in the lives of the youth people we work with. The difference that is made in their lives will stay with them always, and we may not see the fruits of our labour immediately, but rest assured, it will come. We will impact our world one youth at a time. YOUCAN Youth Services's Youth Work Strategy is based on our 4 pillars of youth work: 1. Intense One to One Relationship Building 2. The Circle Process 3. Facilitated Workshops 4. Relentless Youth Work All programs use this work strategy.

Description
VERTO Project; Latin word meaning to turn around. The program works with high-risk youth that have had involvement with the justice system. These youth want change in their lives and to transition into employment or schooling. We will do what it takes in a Relentless fashion (and an appropriate fashion) to walk beside a young person building a strong trust worthy relationship that will help young people at risk go from living a very harmful lifestyle into a healthy and safe lifestyle. Step Up and Step In; This is a program for youth by youth with an aim to reduce youth violence while seeking to help young people become more involved in their communities through work in schools and community groups. The Relentless Youth Worker Project; Like the name states, our Outreach Youth Workers are Relentless. We strive on the outreach work that fosters long term relationships that assist in guiding a young person at risk through the stages of change. We will do what it takes in a Relentless fashion (and an appropriate fashion) to walk beside a young person building a strong trust worthy relationship that will help young people at risk go from living a very harmful lifestyle into a healthy and safe lifestyle. YOUCAN Mentoring Program; Working in two High Schools and two Elementary Schools, YOUCAN staff are training youth to mentor children in the areas of conflict resolution and the prevention of youth violence.
